Just checking to see if anyone has already taken the 2013 CPC Exam? If so, what did you think. I will be taking the CPC Exam for the first time in March. Any suggestions?

I have been waiting for the same question/ answer, hope your first time is your only time, just as myself.

Hi Donna C.
No, I have not take the exam and probably won't be ready to until around Oct.
I am curious though. What steps have you taken to prepare yourself for the exam? Are you already a coder and looking for certification to enhance your employment options?

Luna,

I have worked in the Medical Field for about 15 years. I lost my job 1 1/2 years ago due to office closure. I decided to take a course on medical billing and coding. I took a test which was CBCS(certified billing and coding specialist). I have gotten a job in medical coding but they require the CPC. I have not done a lot of coding but I am studying the cpt book a lot - once I found the Blitz Videos they have been a great help. I have bubbled and hilighted my book and that helps tremendously. You can rule out things just by looking in the book under which heading the answers are in. Guidelines are the key (of course) - I took a mock test at work the other day and out of 188 questions I only missed 19 (was very happy with that) - I guess Study, Study, Study is the answser. Good luck to you when you take yours!

Yes I am hoping to only have to take it once. I have studied a lot. Guidelines, guidelines, guidelines..... The blitz videos really have made me feel like my book being bubbled and hi-lighted will help me greatly with the exam.

I took my CPC Certification Exam today. I didn't think I would finish in 5 hours and 40 minutes but I actually had time left to spare. I really don't want to say that I passed or failed - I feel like I did well but I know the answers can be tricky by being only one or two words different than the actual answer. Hopefully will know by the end of the week.

It is great that you had enough time... That always helps!

I'm scheduled to take my test in June and I also did the CBCS and am going thru the AAPC study guide and the blitz videos now. Any pearls of wisdom for a first timer? And congrats on your passing!

Thanks I m sure you will pass just focus on the tips and especially
bubbling and highlighting , I studied for 3 weeks when I bought
the videos and it was my last resort after I went to Bootcamp
Which didn't help .
I feel a relief now I m hoping to get my CCS studies started soon .
